Wigmore Abbey Parish Churches, Near Leominster, Herefordshire
Wigmore Abbey Parish is the collective name for nine village churches in the area of North of Herefordshire within the Mortimer Country Consortium. Most of the churches are listed by English Heritage as being of significant architectural merit, many are grade1.  Six of the churches date from the mediaeval period. Several are associated with the Mortimer Family, builders of Wigmore and Ludlow Castles. Brampton Bryan church was built after the destruction of an earlier church during the ravages of the Civil War.

Two Churches are Victorian - Downton was formerly the church for Downton Castle Estate and remains unchanged from its completion in the mid nineteenth century.

Leintwardine also has a churchyard conservation project which would be of interest to environmentalists. Further information can be obtained from the Wigmore Abbey web site.
